Counseling Program / Services

Our students meet with the counselor in whole group guidance every other week for a 30-minute lesson. Lessons focus on academics, social skills, life skills, career readiness, and character education. Individual counseling and counseling for small groups is provided when students are experiencing difficulties with friendships, family, or are in need of conflict resolution.

Responsive services are provided to students assisting them with particular needs, such as adjusting to a new school, coping with grief following a crisis or a loss. These services are provided through individual and small group counseling, and referrals to community professionals trained in mental health and other specialties.

Support is offered to teachers for student behavior interventions, assistance with student hygiene, parent concerns and personal needs. Our counselor is also available to meet with parents and teachers during parent teacher conferences or on an “as needed” basis.

Our counselor serves as the building test coordinator for Center Valley. She provides in-service training for test administrators and proctors and oversees accommodations, documentation, and make-up testing for ACT Aspire, IOWA and ELPA.
